Our International Daycare Programme is headed by our school director and our experienced teachers, assisted by our well-trained child care assistants. Our facilities and activity materials are carefully designed and selected to make our students safe and healthy.
We accept children from the age of 1 year old (some cases from 9 months) to the age of three years old. Our services are offered on the basis of first come, first served. Your child will be put in our wait list when the class has reached the maximum number. Please contact our Admission Office for more info about your child’s class.
Our daycare centre is open from 7:30AM to 4:00PM during term time. And to make sure our busy parents easy and comfortable, we accept early drop-off from 7:00AM and allow late pick-up until 5:00PM.
DAYCARE CURRICULUM
Our curriculum is based on UK Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS), which provides a stimulating programme individually adapted to your child. The EYFS is built around three prime areas: communication and language; physical development; and personal, social and emotional development and four specific areas: literacy; mathematics; understanding the world; and expressive arts and design. Brief introduction of each subject is described below:
Your child will be provided a rich language environment and many opportunities to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves.
With a variety of our modern children-friendly facilities including, playground, water play pool, gardens, sensory and movement room, your child is offered with many opportunities to be active, to develop their coordination and movement.
Your child will be surrounded by our friendly and professional staff who are trained with child-protection policies and other children who are taught to be polite and respectful; therefore, your child will develop their social skills; learn to form positive relationships with others, children and adults; to manage their feelings and other’s ones; to grow with confidence and respect.
As your child grows, and develops their love of learning, the curriculum bring in more specific skills.
Your child will be encouraged to look at books and listen to stories, poems and other materials to develop their curiosity, vocabulary and spelling.
The children develop their skills in understanding and using numbers, counting, understanding shapes and spaces.
It is important that the children understand the world around them. They are given many opportunities to observe, explore, and ask questions. They also regularly spend some time in the Garden with Early Years children. They also start to spend some time in the Early Years class with the 3 years old children on the term before their entry that Level.
Your child is given a range of material to explore and share their feelings and stories with painting, colouring, sculpting, messy play etc.
OUR MODERN DAYCARE FACILITIES
Day 1: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
We suggest that parents stay with their child and spend an hour together in our Daycare setting. This will normally be enough for your child’s first day.
Day 2: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Parents will be invited to accompany their child for one and a half hours in the Daycare. All being well, they will be encouraged to leave their child for half an hour during this time to see how well they manage on their own.
Day 3: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
By day three the child may be ready to stay by him/herself for the whole of the morning session and be collected after lunch at 12:00 pm. Parents should not be concerned if this is not the case. Some children arrive on Day 1 as if they have been coming to the nursery for years but others will take a little longer to settle in.
Day 4: :800 am – 3:00 pm
We recommend that the child stay by him/herself until after sleep time.
Day 5: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
We recommend that your child stays by him/herself until 4:30 pm.
Parental/Carer Involvement
We understand how important communication is between parents and members of staff and we encourage parents to communicate with our school administrator or the key person as much as they wish.Parents are always welcome to request a formal meeting with their child’s key person or the school director to discuss their progress, the curriculum, activities, etc., but may find that these topics are covered during informal meetings.
Parents’ Evenings
Parents are invited to attend a parents’ evening each term, during which they will discuss their child’s progress and development.
Daily Report Book
Members of staff write information (with time indicated) during the day about bottles, lunch, snacks, naps, nappy changing, medication given, etc. Parents can take the book at the end of the day and write their comments.
Parents with babies need to provide the Daycare with baby milk and bottles. We use boiled water for bottles and beakers but parents may bring bottled water for their child if they prefer.
Fresh water is available throughout the day and is provided in individually named bottles for the babies and beakers for the toddlers. We can provide lunch for the children and we are able to accommodate most dietary requirements. However, parents can provide food for their child if they prefer.
Please contact our parent services for Monthly Lunch and Snack menus. Parents who choose to have their own lunch for their infants and toddlers can bring to our child care assistants at least 30 minutes before lunch time.
Development & Learning Journey
Each child has a personal Development and Learning Journey to assess their progress. Progress will be demonstrated through observations, photographs and sometimes drawings or pieces of ‘work’.
Progress Check at Age Two
Between the age of two and three the key person will review the progress of the children, by completing the EYFS ‘Learning and Development Summary – Two-Year-Old Check’. They will write a small written summary in the prime areas and discuss with parents who will add their comments. This progress check will identify the child’s strengths or potential concerns. The Daycare staff will develop a targeted plan to support children and will liaise when necessary with parents and professionals.
