Why MAKSON Primary Years Programme?

High Quality
International Programme

International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is used as a tool to inspire, motivate, discover and explore student talent and potential. Learning is approached through themes. Our Programme helps children understand themselves as learners, develop their learning habits and develop skills for life-long learning. IPC also encourages curiosity, researching and understanding the world as well as inspires international mindedness.

In addition to IPC, MAKSON International Academy, uses Oxford Mathematics and English Language Arts to make students ready for their Middle Year and Beyond.

Fully Accredited
Cambodia National Programme Plus General Chinese Programme

At MAKSON International Academy, we equally focus on our national curriculum as much as our international one. We carefully and creatively design our programme using the framework of MoEYS. As for the methodology, we encourage our teachers to use the new generation school approaches for both teaching and assessment of learning.

Chinese language is embedded into the national programme and students will be learning one session daily or 5 sessions per week.

21st Century Skills
Development Programme

MAKSON Primary students are taught both fundamental skills and 21st Century Skills and are continually encouraged to take an increasing responsibility for their own learning and assume more accountability for their own behaviour, so that they can make the right choices and develop as responsible young people.

Character Building, Growth Mindset, Financial Literacy, Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Digital Literacy are among our 21st century skills development programmes.

Great Learning Environment

MAKSON provides an engaging and stimulating environment where children participate in challenging learning experiences, work co-operatively and independently, develop friendships and social skills, take part in physical activities and develop into successful students and life-long learners.

we encourage the children to develop good learning behaviour as well as good manners and habits. These attitudes are introduced through School Assemblies and termly focus so that children continuously develop an understanding of learning capabilities such as collaboration, persistence, imagination and making links.

Assessment and International Checkpoints

Each student's progress is first monitored through assessment for learning within lessons. Teachers offer feedback on homework and projects when independent learning has been completed. Progress is reported formally to parents with two written reports each year, Parent and Teacher conferences and Student-Led Conferences but parents are welcome to discuss their child's progress with teachers at more frequent intervals

On top of above ongoing assessment and feedback, MAKSON also use international assessment from the UK to benchmark our student's learning and offer the appropriate intervention both within academic year and each checkpoint.

Very Qualified and Well-Trained
Teachers and Staff

Our team of highly motivated, caring teachers are able to use a variety of stimulating teaching methods to successfully facilitate children's learning. We strive to ensure each student in their care reaches their full potential, not only academically, but also socially, physically and emotionally. Our Commitment for Excellence and Learning Engagement

Non-Negotiable Learning Targets

At MAKSON, we believe that our teaching is great only when students have amazing learning. To reflect our teaching and commitment, we produce Non Negotiable learning targets for Mathematics, English, Khmer and Chinese Languages by grade levels. Students who are not meeting those targets will received extra support teaching. When we accept your child enrolment, we will introduce these Non-Negotiable learning targets so that you can also help monitor your child’s as much as we do at school.

Growth Mindset And Character Building Programme

MAKSON introduces good manners and habits starting from Early Years. As students progress to primary school, it’s necessary for them to learn to be responsible, well disciplined, persistent, and ambitious. Students will be taught these skills and attitudes through our Growth Mindset and Character Building programmes. They are also given opportunities to practice in our leadership programme.

Student Leadership Programme

we design learning houses and students ‘councils so that students collectively can express their voice and feedback to school board that may result in policy changes or new practices that will in return better serve the school. In both the system, students will also be given opportunities to take part and play leadership roles in accordance with assigned tasks and responsibilities..

Project-Based Learning

Project Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects. Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester – that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They demonstrate their knowledge and skills by creating a public product or presentation for a real audience. As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication skills. Project Based Learning unleashes a contagious, creative energy among students and teachers.
