In Primary School, MAKSON International Academy provides teaching of a unique trilingual programme: 1) International Programme using the learning framework of UK National Curriculum, 2) National Curriculum of Cambodia and 3) General Chinese Programme designed by our Native Chinese language specialist.
Our curriculum organisation complies both international and cambodia national curriculum frameworks. In addition, we find ways to integrate very good Mandarin Chinese curriculum and other important subjects including good character building, growth mindset, financial literacy, leadership and entrepreneurship. This makes us one of the most smartest trilingual programmes in Cambodia.
MAKSON's primary years programme is divided into two:
Ages for Lower Primary (Beginning of the school year):
Grade One: 6 years old
Grade Two: 7 Years old
Grade Three: 8 Years old
Ages for Upper Primary (Beginning of the school year):
Grade Four: 9 Years old
Grade Five: 10 Years old
Grade 6: 11 Years old
The Lower Primary class is open from 7:30AM to 4:30PM and the Upper Primary class is from 7:30AM to 5:00 PM during term time. And to make sure our busy parents easy and comfortable, we accept early drop-off from 7:00AM and allow late pick-up until 6:00PM.
From 5:00PM to 6:00PM, the school also provides paid after school clubs and programmes.
International Primary Curriculum (IPC) is used as a tool to inspire, motivate, discover and explore student talent and potential. Learning is approached through themes. Our Programme helps children understand themselves as learners, develop their learning habits and develop skills for life-long learning. IPC also encourages curiosity, researching and understanding the world as well as inspires international mindedness.
In addition to IPC, MAKSON International Academy, uses Oxford Mathematics and English Language Arts to make students ready for their Middle Year and Beyond.
At MAKSON International Academy, we equally focus on our national curriculum as much as our international one. We carefully and creatively design our programme using the framework of MoEYS. As for the methodology, we encourage our teachers to use the new generation school approaches for both teaching and assessment of learning.
Chinese language is embedded into the national programme and students will be learning one session daily or 5 sessions per week.
MAKSON Primary students are taught both fundamental skills and 21st Century Skills and are continually encouraged to take an increasing responsibility for their own learning and assume more accountability for their own behaviour, so that they can make the right choices and develop as responsible young people.
Character Building, Growth Mindset, Financial Literacy, Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Digital Literacy are among our 21st century skills development programmes.
MAKSON provides an engaging and stimulating environment where children participate in challenging learning experiences, work co-operatively and independently, develop friendships and social skills, take part in physical activities and develop into successful students and life-long learners.
we encourage the children to develop good learning behaviour as well as good manners and habits. These attitudes are introduced through School Assemblies and termly focus so that children continuously develop an understanding of learning capabilities such as collaboration, persistence, imagination and making links.
Each student's progress is first monitored through assessment for learning within lessons. Teachers offer feedback on homework and projects when independent learning has been completed. Progress is reported formally to parents with two written reports each year, Parent and Teacher conferences and Student-Led Conferences but parents are welcome to discuss their child's progress with teachers at more frequent intervals
On top of above ongoing assessment and feedback, MAKSON also use international assessment from the UK to benchmark our student's learning and offer the appropriate intervention both within academic year and each checkpoint.
Our team of highly motivated, caring teachers are able to use a variety of stimulating teaching methods to successfully facilitate children's learning. We strive to ensure each student in their care reaches their full potential, not only academically, but also socially, physically and emotionally. Our homeroom teachers are qualified and trained to teach across a variety of age ranges and subjects. Subjects taught by class teachers are: English, Maths, Theme (Geography, History, Art, ICT, DT), Science, Personal Social Health Leadership Education PHSLE).
